The Yorkshire Vet is quite the guilty pleasure, gorey moments and all. Following Peter and Julian, alongside other team members at Skeldale, the show takes a peek behind the curtain at some of the many cases the vets work on, from domestic animals to large farm animals. 4. Happy Valley
After two successful series, West Yorkshire-based Happy Valley shows no signs of slowing down just yet. Starring Sarah Lancashire, the series follows Sergeant Catherine Cawood as she works to lead her team in Halifax while battling the trauma of her daughter’s suicide. Catch up on BBC iPlayer.
5. Gentleman Jack
Suranne Jones stars as Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack, a period drama about the legendary Yorkshirewoman.
Set at (and filmed at) Shibden Hall, Halifax, the drama is based on the coded tales told in the letters that real-life Anne Lister left behind, detailing her life in business and illegal affairs with other women. 6. All Creatures Great and Small
All Creatures Great and Small was an instant hit upon its remake two years ago, and it’s still going strong today.

A comedy-drama set in West Yorkshire, Ackley Bridge follows an academy school which begins to merge both the white and Asian communities for the first time.

9. Last of the Summer Wine
Last of the Summer Wine long lives as an absolute classic, putting Holmfirth firmly on the map as a result.

10. Heartbeat
If you haven’t seen Heartbeat before, you probably at least know its theme tune. Set in a fictional village that uses Goathland as its backdrop, Heartbeat remains an iconic piece of British TV history – and one that you can still get a taster of on ITV Hub.
The series follows a team of constables as they attempt to keep the peace between the locals, while also tackling their personal lives.
